Alix de Courten has been a registered Attorney in the Canton of Vaud since 2004 and a mediator accredited by the Vaud Cantonal Tribunal since 2016. She is a member of the Mediation Commission of the Swiss Bar Association and chairs the Mediation Commission of the Vaud Bar Association.
Having worked for 20 years as a litigation attorney, Ms. de Courten believes that there is a solution to every conflict, and that mediation is the surest way to reach it.

In addition to authoring various articles on Family Law, European Law and Sports Law, Ms. de Courten is well-versed in issues related to sports doping and ethical questions. In 2006, she traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado in the United States, to collaborate in the revision of the World Anti-Doping Code as a an associate at Holme, Roberts and Owen (now Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP). From 2009 to 2020, she clerked ad hoc for the Swiss Olympic Doping Disciplinary Chamber, now the Swiss Sport Disciplinary Chamber, which she then chaired until 2024. Currently, she judges both doping and ethics cases as an Arbitrator of the Swiss Sports Tribunal, created in July 2024.
Outside of work, she is a licensed ski instructor and has a golf handicap of 8.
